DCCCD Student Blog Post: Annabell Discusses the Two Worlds She’s Living In

Last updated on September 24, 2019

This post is written by Annabell Talavera, a DCCCD student blogger and Mountain View College student.

Hello, y’all! I hope everyone is having a fantastic semester so far! I can’t believe we are reaching our midway point… time flies!

This semester has been pretty mellow, but I can definitely feel the pressure creeping up slowly. A few days ago, one of my professors told me to prepare myself for the “intense” projects that are coming my way. (That’s not intimidating at all…)

When the semester first started, I thought attending two different schools was going be tough, but now I actually look forward to the change in routine. I have two days to be all about art, and two to be all about fashion. I get the best of both worlds.

The past couple of weeks I’ve been working on an in-the-round sculpture made from boxes. To be honest, it was a little difficult for me to get creative with boxes, since I always work with fabric. Talk about two totally different mediums… However, I am both excited and anxious to see the end results, because balancing a 6-foot-5-inch piece can be a challenging. We’ll see how it goes! I’ll keep you guys posted on it.

Overall, this semester has probably been the least stressful of the last two years, but it is not over yet (I’ll let you guys know if I will regret what I just said). I’ve been enjoying this semester very much – not having a job really changes things. I’ve noticed that I’m able to push harder to do well in my classes, and my grades are already showing good results. So as of right now, I’m feeling good about where I am with my career path.  So far, I’ve been completing my assignments on the same day, and now I don’t know what to do with all this extra time on my hands. I can actually relax and watch my Thursday night Shonda Rhimes shows; anyone with me?
